Privacy notice

South London Property Scouts (“we”, “us”) is a private community of local scouts, property dealers and trades helping us uncover overlooked property opportunities across Southwark, Bermondsey, SE1, SE16 and locations close to the Thames Path.

We are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice. You can contact us at hello@southlondonpropertyscouts.co.uk.

Depending on which path you use, we may collect:

• Identity and contact details — name, email address, mobile number, Facebook or social profile name, business or trading name.
• Submission details — property address, postcode, property type, tenure, condition signals, your observations, photographs and any links you provide.
• Business and compliance details (dealers and trades) — company number, VAT and UTR numbers, redress scheme, HMRC AML supervision, ICO registration, insurance, certifications and uploaded certificates.
• Past work evidence (trades) — project descriptions, values, areas and photographs of completed work.
• Correspondence — messages you send us and our replies.
• Technical data — the source parameter that tells us which channel your submission came from, plus basic analytics about how the site is used.

• To assess your submission and investigate the opportunity — legitimate interests (running and developing our property business).
• To verify credentials, insurance and registrations — legitimate interests and, where relevant, compliance with legal obligations.
• To contact you about your submission — legitimate interests, or performance of a contract where we are engaging you.
• To administer a reward or a sourcing fee — performance of a contract and legal obligations (tax and record keeping).
• To send occasional updates about opportunities, deals and work — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Submissions sometimes include information about property owners, occupiers or other people. Please provide only what is relevant and necessary, and never sensitive personal information unless it is genuinely necessary and you have a lawful reason to provide it.

Never trespass, enter a vacant building without permission, harass owners or obtain private information unlawfully. Photographs should only be taken from a public place, or somewhere you are lawfully entitled to be.

We do not sell your information. We share it only where necessary with:

• Our service providers — form, hosting, database, email and analytics providers acting on our instructions.
• Professional advisers — solicitors, accountants and surveyors involved in a transaction.
• Regulators, public registers and authorities — where we are required to, or where we verify a registration number against a public register.

Unsuccessful or duplicate submissions are kept for up to 24 months so we can evidence lead priority and avoid re-contacting the same property. Submissions connected to a completed purchase, a paid reward or a sourcing fee are kept for at least six years to satisfy tax and legal record-keeping requirements. Marketing consents are kept until you withdraw them.

Submissions are stored in access-controlled systems, and uploaded files are held in restricted storage. Access is limited to the people who need it to assess submissions and administer rewards or engagements.

Under UK GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or transfer it to another provider. You can withdraw marketing consent at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.

We use a small number of essential cookies to run the site, plus basic analytics to understand which channels bring scouts to us. We do not use advertising cookies.
